I know this is not spectacular, but it appears unusual to me as I've gone through hundreds of banknotes so far and it's the first time I see this. Notice how the width of the segmented security thread decreases from top to bottom:

Is this considered an error ? How uncommon is it ?

It almost looks like the lower portion of the security strip has been removed. In the pictures you have provided...you can not see the imprinted lettering on the bottom two sections of the exposed security strip. You should be able to read the lettering on all four sections like you can in the top two. I have heard of people removing the security strips from banknotes...I guess out of boredom. Maybe your note was a failed attempt to remove the whole security strip.

I doubt part of it has been removed. If it was then how would you explain that the darker part going across the whole note vertically where the segmented thread is and which you can see by holding the note towards a source of light also thinner ?

Not sure Baanos. Just offering up my uneducated guess for banknotes. I have never tried to remove a security strip to see if there was any discoloration below the strip. Hold the note up to a light. When you do that...you can read the full security strip from top to bottom of the note. It should say 10 CAN flowed by a mirror image of the 10 CAN. The lettering will alternate from one ed of the strip to the other. Check it and see if the full strip is there.

Let me reply to your post by first showing you this picture:

Even if you cut out some of the foil segmented thread, I don't think it's going to remove the thread you can see by holding the note towards a source of light as show on the picture. But what do I know, never tried it either.

That being said, if you take a look at this picture where the letters CAN are visible, it seems this part of the strip has been streched when inserted to the note.

Thank you for the new picture. It definitely does look like the Security strip has been stretched. I'm way out of my league with banknotes. I hope that one or more of the knowledgeable banknote collectors chimes in to answer your question. I will be watching this thread. The more I can learn about banknotes the better.

The narrower strip may very likely have been exposed to a high heat source. These things, no matter how shiny or optically variable, are still polymer! :P

I would think that a heat source would cause it to shrink like a "Shrinky Dink" (for those of you old enough to remember such a thing). If the strip shrinks or shrivels...I would think the lettering would also shrink and not appear to be stretched...elongated.

It would appear this way, yes. Does anyone know if it is worth holding on to ?
