Hey everyone, just purchased what most likely will be my favourite coin I'll ever own. Got lucky to even get my chance to buy this piece, it's a 1880 Newfoundland two dollar gold. 1880 is the key of the series and I think it's a great example. I just sent it to PCGS for grading and I got a good idea what I'm going to get back but I'd be interested to know what everyone else would grade it from the pictures I posted. Thanks! Happy to share this coin with everyone.

1880 $2 NFLD gold coin, from PCGS, I'm thinking Unc details.
If sent to ICCS, AU58.

I'm not sure I don't think it's a repunched " I " just maybe some dirt Canadian-varieties, but I'll have to check that when I get it back from grading. Double eagle your thinking unc details as in a ms grade or a details because of a problem? If problem what problem do you see?

The repunched I on the Newfie piece is a marker of authenticity for that year.. Can't recall seeing a circulation strike without it.... Gorgeous coin Eddie! Nice high AU coin with eye appeal..I believe doubleeagle59 means details as in a problem coin..I see why he says this as the coin had some minor hairline issues.. But considering this is a rare issue and a gold coin, as well as a lightly circulated piece, you shouldn't expect it to get any details mentions from ICCS.
Feel free to call me Will.

Yeah dollarman I'm thinking AU-50, but hoping for Au-58 regardless of the grade I love the coin. I normally send all my coins to ICCS but I wanted to have a PCGS holder for this coin and I like the true view service PCGS offers. That's why I used PCGS this time. Thanks for everyone's comments!
