I agree with the AU-50 to AU-55 range for the 1880 NFLD $2 gold. Beautiful coin - congrats!

This, from our own Pacificoin, who has not seen the last of my money.

As you might imagine, the luster is subdued in the darker areas but in the lighter areas it's brilliant. Quite my most lustrous Woody in that regard, and I have a few.

....as well as the inside of the T in CENT, and I'll be investigating the spot next to the R in REX. Already noted and planned. I've already dessicated them with an acetone treatment in these images; as with every raw coin I buy it went straight into acetone upon receipt and first inspection. Acetone has greater affinity for water than verdigris, and is the appropriate first step when the employment of Verdi-Care is in order as it makes the task of the latter easier and more effective.
