Well I sold my 25oz set of mint sealed silver maples from 1989 to 2012. I turned that around and bought 4 more silver maples and 1/2 oz gold maple.

Congrats on that huge pickup, as I have only had one half oz. gold coin thus far, via a AGE proof 2010 an it was a beaut. TBK has it seems like, if he has not moved it along....

I just picked up a gold coin myself in a .24187 1988 Olympic proof. With prices falling now is the time to get some gold an platinum, esp plat with it under valued under gold, an we know those lines will cross again....

That half ounce gold Maple is a *very* nice pick up, samsnate! Way bigger than my first Canadian $5 coin. Well done!

Unfortunately I had been putting that set together over the last 2years. But in stead of just buying bullion coins, I put the effort in to create a set that would fetch an even higher premium. I know that I dont really ever have 900 to spend at one time but 30 bucks here and there I do, so I figured if I wanted any gold I better buy it now. I'm a silver bug but I really wanted to hold at least 1 decent sizs gold coin.

That $870 gold coin was the equivalent to a year of silver buying for me. I only have 4oz left here in the form of the first 4 coins of the canadian wildlife series......mint sealed, at least until my new 4 oz get here. :-)

That's what I call a small but high quality collection. Those CAN wildlife series coins are exceptionally collectible and are appreciating nicely!

I actually forgot to mention that I also have 4.5 oz in 50-92.5% silver coinage. Wow 4 seems to be a popular number for me this week. Wonder if my pay cheque will be 4 digits without decimals tomorrow? Not holding my breath. :-)

I'm heading that way myself.
My first gold piece just wasn't enough.
(So far 1/10 ounce is my limit.)

I would definitely like to own more at some point. I think I will collect my silver and when I get say, 35oz together, I will trade 27or 26oz in for another 1/2oz of gold. That way my silver is still growing as well as my gold. There are obviously variables such as gold/ silver ratios and market conditions at the time to take into consideration before making the switch. I think I enjoy the 1/2 oz because it is a good size but not as expensive as the full ozers. As well, all the fractional gold coins are so small and the smaller you go the higher the premiums. The half oz are just the right mix :-)
