I got a second chance offer from a bid on an auction that closed out yeterday. I have never taken nor offered a second chance offer. In my opinion it is a shill bidder that went a bit overboard trying to boost his winnings up more. What is your opinion.?

I don't like when I get them, and I usually inquire about why I am even receiving the offer. I also investigate a lot more about the seller. BTW, their second chance offer can't be more than your last bid as far as I know.

Regardless, I would gather as much info as possible. Including emailing the seller through ebay to make sure that it was them that sent the second chance message.

If I have multiples of the same Item I am selling and the second and third bidders were within my sell target then I send out 2nd chance offers. To date no one has taken me up on them. Every now and again I will get an e-mail asking if I sent the offer but for the most part they are just ignored. Still it costs me nothing to send the offer so maybe one day some one will say yes...
Rest in Peace

coldshot et al--

A couple months ago, I was contacted via ebay's message service by a losing bidder on a coin I sold for almost 2K asking if I sent a Second Chance Offer. No way. I was spoofed in a fraud attempt. At least the second chance offer recipient was savvy enough to be suspicious. For this reason and the fact that since then I have received a couple phony second chance offers, I now include in all my auctions a statement that I do not make second chance offers and that any that seemingly come from me are fraud attempts.

Also for this reason, I've grown to dislike the concept. Too easy for fraudsters.

Several months back, I made a typical low-ball bid on some avg. circ. Franklin halves. I think it was a lot of four or more. Anyway, I didn't win, but I did get a second-chance offer. The seller said she was blowing out the rest of her coins. I took her up on it and got some cheap coins.
