Amongst some very old English Victorian pennies I found this tiny little silver(I think) coin. I have found out it is from Japan and is a sen? I believe from the 1870'S or thereabout. I have looked on the internet to try and date it accuratly. I have seen some that are very near to it but mine has a slight differences. Can anyone help me please.

Sorry I can't help with your question.

I just wanted to welcome you to the site and give this thread a bump.

Since you cannot upload a photo, perhaps a detailed description would help...and maybe you should post that in the foreign coins section.

Good luck.

The date converter works well. Other links to decode the date are from Don's World Coin Gallery or the Creounity Time Machine.

If you just want to scroll through pictures to match your coin you can try Don's World Coin Gallery or numista. That won't give you an exact date but a date range.

Not all sen are silver. Some are copper nickel and then as WWII progressed they were made out of cheaper and cheaper metals.

Let us know what you find,

I have cropped your image into two images and resized them so that you should be able to upload them with no problem now.
