It really is shocking that anyone even actually bid on that coin considering that to any real coin collector the amount of cleaning that happened to that coin has now made it only worth its face value of a penny.

I have a small bag full of old NFLD large cents that have one side very obviously chemically cleaned, as in this case. It's sad really, as the coins are in lovely shape otherwise.

Secondly, I allowed my mother to use a silver jewelry cloth on a 1967 Lynx quarter I have had for years that had some ugly tarnish on it, and I actually like the results.

$4.25?

Doesn't cover the cost of a pound of cheese, nor a pound of bacon.
Barely covers a loaf of bread.
A pound of chopped beef. Not in your life!
Food or coins? Tough decision!
