Hi all

I have found this coin and would like to hear what some of you have to say about it, the scan is not very good but I would not like to take it out its sleeve, but would take it out if it is so advised, as one could see the inscription is on there but cant find it anywhere in the Krause 1979 issue. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers

Your obverse is pretty blurry so its difficult to look at and the best I can see is that it is Ferdinand VII. I'm not a Mexican coinage expert but try looking under Mexican Royal Coinage KM#59, though the obverse & reverse descriptions are different for that year than your photos. So that leaves a little more research to validate if 1.) Its a different Spanish colony, 2.) Krause publications is wrong, or 3.) Its a fake

Here's some of the technicals from Krause on 1815 1/16 REAL:
Composition is copper
Obverse - Crowned FVII Monogram
Reverse - Castles and Lions in Wreath
Mint Mark - M,Mo

Thank you Ken spot on found it under "War of independence/ Mexico" it is definitely a 1/2 Real Draped bust of Ferdinand VII, the only other thing was the mint marks could someone tell me where I could look for them?

If you look on the reverse the mint mark is the letter M with the supercript O above it. Look near left edge of coin.
