I was watching this coin for a couple of day's and thought that if it was at a reasonable price I would bid on it. The coin looks like it is a MS-63 maybe 64 (Correct me if I am wrong)

But bidding went to $169.50 + Tax for Canadian Residents.

Does this seem like a crazy price coming from a seller who always over grades his coins? I looked up some recent prices for similar coins (graded by ICCS) and found two examples, one a MS-63 Red and the other a MS-64 Red.

The MS-63 Red sold for $72 including shipping

The MS-64 Red sold for $157 including shipping

Maybe I am missing something? Or someone just really thought this coin would make a 65.

Yes!, I would say the price was too high on this particular coin.

The ICCS MS-63 coin that sold for $72.00 was the best one.

Raw coins always sell better on ebay than certified ones. People are greedy, they see a coin and think it _might_ be a better grade like MS-65, and there is potential to get something much cheaper than trends for a MS-65, or they see an opportunity for profit. Chances are, the buyer will be disappointed with that coin...

Something about that coin really bothers me. I think it is the steel grey/almost greenish toning. I would not be surprised if this coin had altered surfaces or was cleaned at some point in its life.

I agree w/ SPP et al. As a rule of thumb I always drop 2 grade levels below what's listed for this seller. Sometimes 3 if the picture's good enough. That's fine if you know what you're doing but I can see a new/inexperienced bidder taking the grade at face value and going too high. The final bid was in the ball park for an MS63 list price leaning towards an MS64 (which I personally think is overally optimistic but I guess the bidders had a different opinion). All that being said, I have bought a lot of coins from this seller over the last few months and have only had one or two problems that fall into the 'reasonably honest mistake' type category for someone selling this many coins every 24 hrs. Just like any other ebay auction, do your homework and walk away if the price goes to high. There'll be another one listed.

well said Kuh_85.

Always walk away if the bidding goes too high. I have a very limited budget for buying coins, and as such try to purchase coins at a price well below the price of the coin as graded. If it says MS-64 I bid as though it is an MS-60, especially with this seller as I have heard from many people that this seller over grades their coins. I don't win many auctions this way, but I avoid overpaying or buying something outside of my budget.

I buy a lot of "junk" silver from aysn, so I never really need to worry about grades. I can usually get them for just under melt.

I have gotten proof silver coins for around melt as well from him. Sometimes his coins don't sell for much, and other times there crazy.
