Poll Question
Hi all, I'm just wondering if anyone thinks that this is a real lamination error on a 2008 $1 coin. I haven't seen lamination flaws on anything newer. I tended to find them generally on coins prior to the mid-80's. Have a look:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Circulated-...em4165c62eb9
What do you think?
The only think that makes it look like a lamination flaw is the crack backs on the rim (which can still be done quite easily with a stanley knife).
But so straight? Hmm...

Poll Choices
 This is a lamination flaw
 This is a fake
 I'm not sure

Although overall its pretty straight it seems to be jagged which makes me think it must be genuine.

I'd say real but close up pics would've been good.

I would think its real; it seems to have a peeled affect going on.
Tho it does seem unusual to have an earlier coin with this appearing, it may just have had a more circulated life or strains put on it to bring the flaw to the surface.
You certainly would not see lamination on an uncirculated coin or specimen coin.

Here's a similar, straight, fairly neat looking Lam Flaw on the rev of a 2001 CoF Dollar:

You would have to be pretty creative with a box cutter to produce this
As far as I am concerned this is the real McCoy
