Hello all!

I just opened a mint roll that I had of 2000-P Sacagawea dollars. I was going to sell them on ebay or just dump them back with change.

I really don't have ANY golden dollar knowledge. Before I get rid of them, are there any known errors that I can look for on them for fun?

On a side note, one coin in the roll (middle) looked like it had a good deal of carbon spotting on it... This roll was never opened from the Mint... Is this a normal occurrence?

Hmm , I never had that problem when I went through Mint rolls of them or any other "Golden Dollars" ..

Maybe that one came from a bad batch ? .. Some shottie plating or something on them lines? My guess .. ..

Really odd tho now I'm curious how the other rolls I havnt touched look . (ill go bust open some 2000's I have and see how they held up , if any look biffed up ill letcha know ...)

Good luck with your research , JOHN1's link helped me out with SBA's and all also great info .!

John, you're incredible....

From your website source, I quote...

"In 1999, the Mint experimented with the composition, layers and finish for the alloy to be used for the Sacagawea dollar. They finally settled on a clad composition with outer layers of 77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, and 4% nickel over a center layer of pure copper. However, even with careful planning and experimenting, the 2000 Sacagawea dollars, which was the first year of issue, were plagued with spots, discoloration, and tarnish, even when pulled from bags or rolls from the bank."

John, I have a question though...

I had some fun looking through the roll I opened. They of course were all shiny.. But I decided to go pick up a few small dollar rolls just for fun.

Can anyone explain to me exactly what "experimental wash" should look or feel like? I am seeing a few satin finish Sacs... And I feel like the experimental wash will just look like satin...no?
