This is exactly what I was looking for bobby131313.
I do not own any of these yet, but hopefully one day will.
Great history.

Thank you very much for sharing the knowledge

I had the privilege of seeing one of these up close a few weeks ago. An old-timer brought his 1793-1857 date/type collection of Large Cents in fine or better condition to the Monday Night Bid Board at my local coin shop. The only major coin missing was a Chain Cent, which didn't have a slot in the Dansco album. The 1793 Flowing Hair Wreath was probably very fine. The 1793 Liberty Cap and the 1799 Draped Bust had the old ANA photo authentication certificates taped to the inside cover of the album.

The early collection was the color of fine Swiss milk chocolate and the later dates were AU-uncirculated red-brown. It was a truely awe inspiring collection put together over a period of about 30 years

What a beauty! It's hard to believe that this design was unwanted by the people of its day. How times have changed. I would like to see a return to the classic, allegorical designs on our coinage. This is one coin that I have never owned, but I have had the pleasure of seeing and holding a few of them. ~Jim
