I just noticed... Quote: (If some of the foreign-minted coins that were utilized as currency during our nation's birth appear in this thread, I probably won't ask the Mods to delete them...) Good. While I cannot speak for the others, I was not going to fulfill that request.

Quote: (If some of the foreign-minted coins that were utilized as currency during our nation's birth appear in this thread, I probably won't ask the Mods to delete them...) I only have two that fit into the above category. Both were given to me in the mid 50's by an elderly coin dealer out of his "junkbox" when I was there to buy my first Whitman Lincoln Cent folder. Since they are both "dogs" I will list them as my 13 & 12 picks, even though they could also be my 2 & 1 picks. 1738 George II Copper Halfpenny. This coinage was produced in the London mint for use in Ireland. They were not officially sanctioned for use in the American colony.

I have been wanting to get a colonial for a while now. I have asked the dealers I trust at every show for the last couple of years, but they havent had any. The dealers that did were greaseballs IMO, so I didnt even glance twice. Iwill be enjoying this one.

I suspect there are going to be some nice varieties to pick from over the next 13 days. Cipster can't wait to see your two choices

Here's my 2nd and last offering. 1723 George I Copper Halfpenny. It is actually a chocolate brown all over but I brightened the pic to show what little detail is left. Also included a pic of what it did look like at one time. From here on I will just sit back and enjoy. On with the show.
