It's time for a new coin type: The US Colonial and Post- Colonial Issue!

Starting Friday the 18th of May, for 13 Days, we will all show pictures of our 13 Favorite Colonial & Post-Colonial issued coins during the 13 Days of Your Favorite Colonials and Post-Colonials!

What is considered a Colonial & a Post Colonial?

Definition: Any coin minted in the (soon-to-be) continental United States, by a colony, and utilized for currency prior to the federal US Mint provided coins became available.

We'll start out with your 13th least-favorite coin on the 18th and progressing up the favorite list all the way to your # 1 favorite on the 30th of May!

Schedule:

18 May: your 13th favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
19 May: your 12th favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
20 May: your 11th favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
21 May: your 10th favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
22 May: your 9th favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
23 May: your 8th favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
24 May: your 7th favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
25 May: your 6th favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
26 May: your 5th favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
27 May: your 4th favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
28 May: your 3rd favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
29 May: your 2nd favorite Colonial or Post-Colonial
30 May: your FAVORITEColonial or Post-Colonial

I'm REALLY looking forward to this thread!

(If some of the foreign-minted coins that were utilized as currency during our nation's birth appear in this thread, I probably won't ask the Mods to delete them...)

I didn't know anything about Colonials until I read some of Vermontensium's posts. I bought a CT colonial and then followed his suggestion to look for a Virginia Half Penny - so thanks Dave!

With only two coins to post I'll watch and enjoy the show until May 29 & May 30.

All Colonials are beautiful, no matter how nice or ugly they are, they all breathe some incredible history.

Nah, jbuck would go for a Sommer Island Shilling (Hogge Money) :-)

You guys are obviously confusing me with the 1%.

I am clearly closer to the bottom of the 99%.

I'll bite. This is the only colonial coin that I currently have. It's a 1724 Hibernia halfpenny. Has VG details with corrosion.
