For me I usually spend 200-1500$ a week on the shiny stuff. It is disposable income so it serves a dual purpose for me.

I like to buy a little bit at a time. Usually no more than 10 ozs in a single purchase. What I am buying is a bit all over the place and depends on what tickles my fancy. I've got the standard bullion, 90%, modern commems and am workin on sets of Franklins, Silver roosies and a war year set of mercs in unc condition. The only coins I have bought with no silver are the 57/58 Flying Eagle cents.

I personnally couldn't do the save up for the dips method. I would get the itch to buy or raid the fund for other expenses.

I tend to pick up a few ounces of silver every week. Once every month or two, I will try to purchase some form of gold, whether it be in a commemorative, bullion, or something pre 1933. I try to set a reasonable budget for myself to follow. If I do well on ebay, I will usually reinvest 50% and use the other 50% for the purchase of coins I collect.

When I've got the cash from the household recycling or an odd job, I'm liking these market lows of 28-ish/ozt for my PM/numismatic buys.

My stacking is as well "all over the place".
I have been buying sterling silver flatware on ebay if it is at a 20% discount. I don't allocate much in dollars to sterling but if the price is right, I'll buy.
