India, 1/2 rupee, native states.
What State I don't know. I have old editions of Krause that show a lot of these over the last four centuries, but I would need to spend an hour to find out, because I can't read the script.

DCH is better identifying this kind of coin than me, so I'm not sure how much help I'll be...

But the teardrop-shaped central element in the top pic makes me think Central Asia, rather than India proper.

I'm also thinking this coin was overstruck on something else, with much of the undertype's design remaining, confusing matters further.

The smaller circular part of the design may give some clue in aid to identification. I am now tempted to trolling through old Krause catalogues.

That means looking randomly at hundreds of pictures. If I get the time, I'll have a go at it.
