I know that with a Genuine/damaged and or cleaned PCGS coin, it loses about 50% of its graded value. Is it the same with raw coins? Does it depend on the degree of damage.

Depends on the amount of damage, and what the buyer is prepared to pay.
There is no set rule, but if the damage is VERY minor, a buyer would perhaps pay 50% of the equivalent price.

If the damage is great, the coin would be reduced to metal value only, unless very rare.

I don't buy damaged coins. The damage will always be there. IF the coin is priced at 10 or 20 percent, then I would, just to have as a hole filler....otherwise, I pass.

I did purchase damaged coins in the past, but no more.

Damaged coins that I buy, like you said, are to fill holes. The only exceptions are for coins like my PCGS Genuine PR 1856 FE which was an XF+ grade and sold for an AG price.
