To bad on the condition. Here is what you wish it looked like. Congratulations on the find none the less. It will make a great place holder.

Incredible roll find! I've searched many thousands of 72's and have never found one. CONGRATS!

PS - Do NOT attempt to clean it!

Number 4 is nice with good value. I like the look of this coin better though. I would love to find one of these here in Canada. I would most likely have a better chance of winning the lotto but one can hope. I have yet to find a decent RPM here from all my searches thus far. I need to snag a few US cent boxes to help increase my chances. :)

I wonder if anything can be done to conserve it.

Very doubtful. It would be better to sell it this way than ruining further.

I was thinking NCS or something, but maybe it's not valuable enough to make it worthwhile.

I've seen some of their conservation. Just a cleaning that probably no one else would grade, but them.

If it was my coin I would try a dip in acetone and if that didn't do anything I would try a VERY gentle cleaning with a VERY worn out SOFT toothbrush. NOTE: IF IT WAS MY COIN.
