I havent seen the listing, but with a coin like this I would only buy one off a reputable dealer. If your interested in buying one check out the status international auction, they may have a few and their auction is this week. Its a far more secure way to buy such a commonly faked coin.

It's real but it's a horror show on the Obverse.

Quote: with a coin like this I would only buy one off a reputable dealer. sterling currency are a reputable dealer. They are members of ANDA and my dealings with them have always been good. Although in my opinion it is a lot of money to spend on an "album filler" which you would probably have trouble selling if you needed to. I think it would be more worthwhile buying a low grade but problem free coin.

It is real one, Sterling&Currency's owner Andrew Crelling is a respected dealer and ANDA member. Just his price is always higher than others.

Sorry guys, I hadnt actually seen the listing when I made my post. This seller meets my criteria of a "reputable dealer". I was more or less trying to warn the demerest of buying this coin off an unknown seller.

I agree with ADMISLSE if your going to buy a coin you might as well pay a bit more for a problem free one:)

They advertised it as a space filler. Rather poor condition but, still a cheap 1923. I eagerly await the 1930 penny space filler! [Please none of the apocryphal stories about the one that was cleaned up on the path, with wet and dry paper, steel wool etc.] Jeff
