Sure, all the fancy painted glowing coins get all the attention, but I guess I'm a traditionalist; I'm looking forward to the 2012 Silver Lucky Loonie.
For one, I like the idea of collecting as many dollar coins as possible (Silver dollars and loonies), but also I think it's an example this year of the Mint being realistic and maybe listening to demands of the consumers. They upped the silver content to 100% and lowered the price from recent years to $40. What more could you ask for? (besides a coloured glow-in-the-dark queen riding a dragon).

I wonder why on mint.ca it says only available in Canada and same with gatewest. The mint seems to be going to pure silver on most new silver coins, customers like not paying tax, the mint is learning.

I will wait to see how this coin does before I purchase one. I almost got it on the day it became available to general public, but then backed out. As an investor, I see very little upside to this coin, and the ASW in the coin is far below $40

I like the lucky loonie myself as well.. I'm a silver dollar fan. That said, I hope the mint watches this thread.. The Queen riding a dragon? Awesome!

I picked up the new lucky loon ..... but then I have to or my loon set would be missing one It would be nice if the mint had some more loon coins for the 25th year in circulation , bring them on my OCD needs something to chase I'm all in for the Queen riding a dragon but it would need to be the younger hotter queen

Sorry no love for the Special Olympics Loonie here. I plan to pick that up cheaper on ebay next year. I would love to get a a coloured glow-in-the-dark queen riding a dragon, and if they could make the dragon spit actual fire that would be awesome.

I ordered 1. I thought it was pretty. I did like the double loon better though.

So firstly, I can't take credit for the 'Queen riding a dragon' idea. It was thought up by someone else in one of the '20 for 20' threads I think. But I think we are in agreement that a coloured, glow-in-the-dark sceptre-carrying Queen riding a fire-breathing dragon would sell very well.
Slightly more on topic, I ordered one of the 2012 Silver Lucky Loonies online from Canada Post on Tuesday night. I only found out by reading this forum that they have free shipping for everything, which I thought was pretty nifty. And with all the shipping delays the mint is having, I kinda figured I'd probably get it quicker from CP anyway. We'll see.

In the past they released a circulation one to go with the NCLT silver one. Is that not happening this Olympic cycle?

i wasn't sure if I really wanted this coin. but I realized that with all the new coloured coins I was getting caught up in it and said hey it's a nice looking coin, buy it.
As for Canada post, I wanted to try them and save shipping cost so I ordered a ''welcome to the world 2012'' coin for my newborn from my post office. I got it like 2 months later.
i guess it depends on the post office.
