This little beauty is about to be mine, it just isn't physically in my possession yet. I'm pretty confident about both the grade and it's overton number. Any comments on grade, originality, surfaces, etc. would be appreciated.

Grade-This-1806-Dbh

Thanks.

Obverse is nice I'd F15 details and if the hair ribbon had more separation I'd say VF. The obverse I'd say is VG8 so my net grade would is F12.

Sweet coin!

I would say F12 as well, although that reverse could easily bring the entire grade down to VG IMHO.

It looks like a 109a to me which has a rarity 3. The 109a is different from the 109 in that there is a die crack through the 12th star. I think I see that in the pics. The other marker for this variety is the pointed 6 and no stem through the claw.

I'd call the condition VG10. Sorry, but I tend to go on the conservative side in grading and I don't see quite enough detail in the hair and drapery for an F12. The surfaces look good. It may have been cleaned long ago, but it has retoned nicely.

All in all, I'd say you made a very nice purchase there!

Obverse is a F-12, Reverse is VG-8, but due to market influence a TPG grade would be a net F-12 I bet. If you are at all disappointed in this grade I would be glad to give you a $100 bill for it. Nice coin.

I just got the coin today, and I must say it looks a lot better in hand. I paid a little below what VG DBH's have been going for lately. It's an O-109a, which I think is an R4 variety, but may be an R3, I'm too lazy to look it up. The dealer I bought it from guarenteed that it would slab as an F12 at PCGS, or I'd get my money back including shipping and slabbing fees. I might take him up on that offer.
