Check this blantant miss listed auction out. This guy has an "unsearched" roll of wheat's with a 1922 plainly visible in the photo, weak D on one end and an IHC on the other and has the stones to list as a no D. To top it all off the bidding is up to $127.99 with 15 bids as of this post.

I honestly dont even know what too make of this. In his feedback some people swear up and down that the coins found are great. The neutral comments suggest that most are culls. Perhaps this is something which novices fall for?

I'll just never understand why people still think that the feedback means anything. My som when in college and all the other kids would get together and give each other fantastic feedbacks. They could be selling garbage and have great feedbacks.

Yeah I fell for a roll scam when I first started. I opened a case and got my money back. because I looked deeper in his feedback as a buyer and saw where he was buying the coins in bulk! Right on the same ebay account! Especially when his auction stated that he was selling these because he had no interest in coins.

These rolls were saved by my late Grandfather over his entire life. He and my grandmother ran a small general store in Colorado and then in Ohio for over 40 years which gave him the opportunity to save boxes and boxes of alot of wheat pennies. He also had a special interest in Civil War Tokens and memorabilia. Alot of the rolls have these tokens on one

Oh, so his Grandfather planted coins in both ends of the roll to deceive buyers, that makes so much sense. It must be legit.

In the last 2 weeks I have done extensive research on how to identify a 1922 Die Variety #2 (No D). One of the first signs of having an actual Die Variety #2 is the weak first 2 in 22. The second 2 should be noticeably stronger, not weaker as in the auction (you should be able to tell without magnification). This is not a Die Variety #2 No D.

Plus it appears to have a visibly weak D.

These auctions should be banned from ebay. These auctions only deceive uninformed collectors into purchasing coins that are worth less than they appear to be. Education is the key to becoming a better collector who can identify this auction for what it is.

I cannot believe this auction closed at $380.00 with 52 bids. I wish ebay would do something about this, it is becoming a nuisance.

Look at the brighter side. Since he claims they are unsearched, the insides could all be washers. Of course those that bid on this would end up being happy but the person that wins sure wouldn't.
By me people bid on unclaimed storage lockers all the time. One person I know bid on a lot of 110 of those. As he opened each one all he found was basically nothing or old cloths. Even he admits when you buy something unknown, expect the worse too.

Yeah, it is really hard to believe that someone would pay $380 for that roll. And that is why that seller is in business. ebay has done nothing wrong. If some people want to pay that much for some unknown roll, then go ahead and let them.

And it is the greedy buyers, hoping to make a fortune on the auction that should be banned from ebay, they are the ones encouraging these kinds of sellers. Just read his listing and it is obvious the seller is a scam artist.
