Was going threw more rolls of pennies last night and come across a really nice 1969s. I was going to stick it right into a holder and decided to check it out for error. As I looked at the date and MM threw the loop I noticed it was a definate double die of the Date. The date actually looks twisted and very cool.

Couldn't find a price on one in any of my coins books or the PGCS grading site. Anyone know what the value of this coin would be. Sorry for the poor picture but in a few days I will have a digital microscope to take really nice close up shots.

MetalMan,. there seems to be some nice doubling on Lincoln's face. The nose, forehead and especially the beard have really visable doubling when viewed threw the 10x loops. Very noticeable now that I look for it. Unfortunity, the S does not appear to be doubled to me at all.

OrDirtDevil,

The MM cannot be doubled, only repunched.Mintmarks were individually punched into the dies by hand and if mistakes were made it was repunched. Thus the term RPM(repunched mintmark).I believe sometime in the late 80's or early 90's they began placing the MM directly onto the dies in which case douled die would apply.

The date on your 1969S Lincoln is not a doubled Die.

From the photo available, the bust of Lincoln does not appear to be
doubled either.

I can't really speak to your mintmark, too small to make anything out.

hope this helps
RW
