Color won't affect the grade, but it will affect a value and what a grading company will say about it.
The coin is probably around F details, but has the look of being cleaned.
Unfortunately, the pictures aren't good enough to say for certain.
Still a tough coin!

Color doesn't effect the wear grade, but surface condition can effect the net grade and influence grading companies to give it a "details" grade.

I don't know that it's necessary to send to a grading company; this one I might keep raw.

That's a great find you have there!

The darkness is most likely due to this coin being a ground/metal detector find and it could have possible corrosion/porosity issues that will cause it to no-grade at PCGS.

Did you select the box for "Do not holder genuine" or something like that?
Seems odd they wouldn't holder it with a details grade.

I agree, ground find. Dirt reverse. You'll get a details grade but what nice details.
