So I saw this coin on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...t_545wt_1154I was interested in bidding but was curious about the color. I sent the seller a message asking about the color. I copy and paste the conversation word for word... Me: I was curious if the scan represents the actual color of the coin in hand? Looks more brown than red brown? Seller: Hi! Please read the listed information again & then read your question again and DO NOT BID on this coin and stay happy. Thanks. Seller ends up blocking me. Was I out of line with my question?

When ANACS graded the coin it must have been a Red & Brown or they would have just placed Brown on the holder... Coins do change in the holder and I think it lost most of the red color due to poor storage... I could be wrong with my above opinion. but know first hand that when I stored coins overnight in cold tempature in my vehicle the night before a coin show, when I set up the next morning as the slabs started to warm up, condisation would form inside the slabs... Lincoln Cents due change in the holder and a while back Coin World ran an article from PCGS saying that they will no longer guarantee Cents in High Grades in PCGS holders...

@jokingjoker - Lots of sellers of dubious numismatic items on ebay are like lawyers during the jury selection process: They don't want people who think. :-)

Your question was completely valid. His response was uncalled for.

I would also question what he means by "eye clean", especially with his own added quotes. That and the use of "@@" in the word "looking". I stay away from anyone that does that in their listing.

your question was a good question...I also wrote to this seller to see how he reacts to another inquiry...I figure if he keeps blocking people for asking questions,he wont have many bidders left to buy his stuff

I think the response was uncalled for...but I can see why he did it.(I don't agree with it though) If I were to make a guess as to why the block... He's probably afraid you're going to purchase the item, get it in hand, not agree with the color and want to return it. He doesn't want to go through all the troubles, so instead he blocked you. Horrible way to do business, but ebay does bring out the best in people...

I see nothing wrong with asking questions, I encourage it in my listings. Although his/her response and actions were totally inappropriate, IMO.

The guy's a real hothead--wouldn't it be easier to answer in a civil manner? He might as well block everyone.

I see that is what is in the title of the listing. I see that is what ANACS graded it. But what I see with my own two eyes is a brown coin. I thought it could be the scan or maybe my monitor. What I didn't expect was the snide response and subsequent blocking for what I thought was a simple question.
