I have just got hold of some lincoln cents and after doing some research, I was under the impression that lincoln cents, lincoln pennies and wheat pennies were all the same thing. After doing more research I am now not so sure.
I live in Ireland and am new to coin collecting and wonder if anyone could explain these coins to me.
Many thanks,
Sheen

the current smallest value coin for the US is the Lincoln Cent. Sometimes referred to as a Lincoln Penny.
The Lincoln Cent has gone through some changes over the years. The obverse has always been in image of Lincoln, the reverse had Wheat Ears from 1909-1958.

Then was an image of the Lincoln Memorial building 1959-2008.

2009 saw Lincoln Bicentenial images.

Starting in 2010 the reverse is a Shield.
