Hi all; Just throwing out a question, kinda need to find a few thousand bucks fast (kinda, if I don't get them, just puts me back a few weeks). Here's my Q - How much would a dealer offer for full mint sets 1966-2012 - inclusive of the early years with the different coloured folders (1969) and cards/folders (1966)? edit --> ebay seems flat at the moment, is why I'm asking. Quote: A dealer would offer you about half the retail value of the sets But as you are selling the entire set it is likely you would get even less than that due to a bulk discount. I think your best bet would be selling them individually on ebay

I dont think you would be offered very much by the dealers. I agree ebay seems flat at the moment. If you can hold off I would wait and sell them individually on ebay. If you have to sell now then sell individually on ebay.

Yes I would try to sell on here first and then ebay. You've got a great knowledgeable group here and I'm sure they wouldn't try to cut your throat on price that much. And I think you are close to hitting that post milestone. Since I'm new to Australia I've got addicted to the coins here and I will be selling off a lot of "extra" US coins including Early Commems, etc to fund my new addiction. I've got a long way to go on posts though. Not to get off topic but those 250 posts seems like overkill on protecting the sanctity of this place. Of course, it's not my place to run though. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Hi CoinManTim, I have a spreadsheet where I keep track of ebay mint set sale prices for the various year sets. It is not perfect in that it doesn't indicate the quality of the sets sold which may be variable particularly with the earlier year sets (say 1966 - 1984). However, it will give an indication of what values sets have been going for. Happy to provide a copy if you think it will be of use to you. Pedro

Cheers Pedro, that would be good. However, I put a run of mint sets that IS Wright was selling that finished at 8.30pm EST on my watchlist. Very surprised with the low numbers. I am thinking that for what they're selling at, at the moment, I might just do an extra 2 months worth of saving. dccoin, thanks for your offer, but in the current market I will hold off selling. Mind you, this would surely be your time to buy - individually - at the least - I purchased my sets on ebay over a number of months, and I paid more than what the below got!! Grrrrrrrrrrrr --> to clarify, the reason I wanted quick cash, was that I have been house shopping lately, and I hate some of the awful places in my brick-bracket. I wanted to get my deposit a bit higher to begin looking at what an extra $30-40k would buy. (Which is only an extra $2k at 5% deposit) - so I'll just stop being impatient and sit on what I got. -- IS Wright's Sales (both Adelaide and Melbourne) 1995 - $38 1997 - $33 1998 - $27 1999 - $33 2000 - $40, $81 2001 - $33 2002 - $23, $27 2003 - $23 2004 - $33 2005 - $36 2006 - $27 2007 - $24 2008 - $25

Quote: Mind you, this would surely be your time to buy It seems so. I S Wright usually sell a run of mint sets each fortnight and I have bought quite a few of them. This weeks seem to have gone cheaper than usual. Maybe it is the economic uncertainty around at the moment. dcoin, if you are in the market for a set of Mint sets then keep an eye on I S Wright in 2 weeks time.

Thanks for the tip MobofRoos, I guess you could buy them individually, but the reality is even if you get them cheap on ebay you just end up getting killed on postage costs, 45 odd mint sets at $5-8 postage a set really starts to add up.

A number of the IS Wright items were noted as having some wear on the sleeves - may have been a factor on the prices as well. Even so the 2000 set price was very low.
