My wife recently found a strange coin - it's a laminated Wheat penny and nickel - both the back sides. They appear to be from the 1940's (by mint mark on nickel side). I've never heard or seen this type of error before. Comments?

It's not an error, it's some kind of trick coin. Two half-coins were sandwiched together.

I've seen the same done with a Mercury dime and a what cent. Just a couple of altered coins. Great for magic tricks.
