Anyone familiar with older silver from Germany?

Based on some initial research, this appears to be .835 from 1900-1940 Germany based on the KraftAlpacca and RK (Robert Kraft) hallmarks, but I can't seem to find a numerical hallmark.

Is this normal?

Also the mesh tests positive for 800+ silver, but the clasp and chain do not (acid turns yellowish instead of red). I'm confused.

Here is the piece in question, btw:

Scratch that. The clasp does test positive.

The chain is the one that doesn't.

Still can't find a numeric on it anywhere.

I know .800 silver (.835?) is mostly if not all from Europe, an the time period seems right for that purity as well. I think your research is spot on, but I could be wrong, we shall see what others think....

If it is indeed .835, still would not surprise me being German silver and perhaps not that odd of a purity for the early part of last century....

As far as the mesh only testing good, would most likely mean they used based metals for the other part of the purse I would have to assume after the results of that yellow acid test....

And that makes more sense as I could see where they would not go silver on the chain/strap, but all the main body being composed of 80 percent silver....

Any idea why there wouldn't be a numeric hallmark?

I thought it was a requirement in Europe after 1888 or some such.
