mdj Valued Member United States 136 Posts	Posted 06/05/2012 1:07 pm Did anybody score any good finds at the National Road Yard Sale? I bought a silver Franklin half and 3 Indian Head pennies for $15. And the date on one was 1872! It really shows its age though. Some corrosion, pitting and the color is black. But its still a 140 year old cent! (Also bought a 14k white gold ring for $20, took it to a gold buyer and he offered me $70!) Report this Post to the Staff

mdj Valued Member United States 136 Posts	Posted 06/06/2012 1:49 pm The National Road Yard Sale is along the old " National Road " or Cumberland Road for really old timers. Most people know it as "40", route 40,or US 40. Its yard sales from the eastern coast all the way up to and past St. Louis Missouri along "40". It ran from Wed. through Sat. or Sun. last weekend. I'm surprised more people haven't heard about it. Its usually pretty well advertised. But I suppose if you didnt live close to it ( 40 ) you might not have heard about it. Sounds like it would have been a blast, something I wish I could have done with my Grandfather before he passed away (we used to go to a lot of yard sales together).
