Got this a few days ago and I already posted it on the cdnpapermoney forum website, but I didn't get many replies, so I am giving it a shot here, hoping I can get some additional comments on how this could have occurred and whether it is legit or forged. Here is the note I found:

Possible-Error,-100$-Polymer,-Misprinted-?
Possible-Error,-100$-Polymer,-Misprinted-?
Possible-Error,-100$-Polymer,-Misprinted-?

To the feel of the fingers it is as smooth on the locations where the ink issue is as it is on the rest of the note. Eager to hear some comments!

Is the shape of the note distorted? Could it have been impacted by heat?

This should be caused by improper drying of the notes, at least for paper. I've seen a few on ebay advertised as so, but I think for polymer notes, a good rub of that area could also have the same effect.

It looks like on your note, the smear areas also seem to be near a fold. I'd just get another early $100 and rub it against something to see if the effect can be recreated.
Rest in Peace

Hi Baanos

I adjusted your note a bit to get a better look at it and the affected areas do not seem to have the same height characteristics as normal printed parts of the note.

Smallcentguy could be correct as per burnt spots from heat, but then what do I know.

The shape of the note itself is not distorted as far as I can tell. I rubbed two 100$ notes against each other using the palm of my hands, I pushed down pretty hard and that created some heat in the process. I've done it for barely 10 seconds and here is the result:

Possible-Error,-100$-Polymer,-Misprinted-?

I'm not willing to burn any 100$ note to see the result.

wd1040:
Upper spots are between two hard folds. Bottom part is relatively farther away from these folds.

Thank you all for the comments so far. Wondering if I should get this certified...

Alright, I just showed my note to Louis Chevrier at the Nuphilex show in Montreal as well as another dealer at the table and I was told this could be damage from chemicals, but that we cannot know for sure until we test other 100$ notes with certain chemicals to see if the same effect replicates.

I am not willing to do this, not worth it IMO. So back to circulation it goes!
