Hello Crhsw, that is a massive amount of halves! All I can say is, the more volume, the taller the stack!

I CRH halves, and do not hunt any other denomination. I used to do pennies and dimes, but I wouldn't waste my time with them anymore. To make this possible, I have a very strict routine I abide by every week. It may seem impossible, but it is very possible and only takes a few hours to do. Having a bankroll is 90% of the challenge.

60+ boxes in a few hours? Ok .....
60 boxes x 50 rolls in a box = 3000 rolls
Just to touch a roll takes a second, nevermind do anything with it, which equals 3000 seconds or 50 minutes. That is to just take one second per roll. You mean to tell me you can process an entire roll in less than 5 seconds? Please enlighten me! :-)

No, not 60 boxes in one sitting haha. I'd go crazy! I do this a couple days every week. The most I've hunted in one sitting is about 22 boxes. I own my own business so I have the flexibility to do this whenever I want.

Business must be slow or you are neglecting your responsibilities to go through 22 boxes

I am still interested in hearing more details about your process! I have searched as of today over $100,000 in halves and if I am JUST silver hunting it takes me about 35 minutes to process one box. 60 boxes is still close to 35 hours of work a week at my speediest effort! That is almost a full time job in itself, not to mention where do you dump 60 boxes worth of coin every week? If you own your business, do you have an armored car service pick them up? If so what do they charge?

It's also the reason banks are starting to charge a fee, thanks.

Wow! 35 minutes? It takes me less than 10 minutes to edge check one box! I return the coins in bags, and I pick up on average 4 boxes from one branch. There are a lot of banks in my area. I am always curtious and never cause an inconvenience for anyone at any of my banks.

It's probably easy to search a box of halves in 15 minutes if you edge search. the most time will take just opening the rolls. And to do that many boxes a week i'd have to quit school or my job. lol. And I can't pm you either, since you're a new member.

Crhstreetwalker....takes me longer because my bank only takes rolled coin...can't send it in a bag. Would love to see you in action! At ten minutes you could post a YouTube video of you processing an entire box. I am sure the forum would love to see that in action! Would help everyone speed up their efforts and make CRH more fun! :-)

This is a copy from another forum I post on. These are this weeks results.
Title: "crhstreetwalker this weeks 58 boxes"

58 boxes hunted Monday through Friday. 87 '65-'69 40%. 11 '64 90%. 6 Bens including 3 '62D, '62 proof, '57D, and '63D. 2 walkers including '18D and '44, and 1 90% 2005S proof. Total of 87 40%, 20 90%. My average was extremely low compared to most weeks this week, and I had a lot of skunks. Got my oldest silver coin ever found in a roll, the 1918D walker, which was an ender in one of my boxes. Also got my first modern 90% silver proof coin, 2005S. Hopefully next week will be better. HH.

Wow. That would be a dream to search that many boxes a week. How long has this been going on? I figure your banks will get tired of that volume real fast.

And I think 107 silvers from 58 boxes is a better average than a lot of folks here.

As I posted on the other forum, this is just awesome! I do two boxes of pennies and one box of nickels a week and I would have considered myself a volume hunter...not only more though lol!

Truthfully, if you are able to do it, volume hunting is the best way to go. Particularly for silver coins. Good luck on the future hunts!

If by "Bank Roll" you mean paying ridiculous bank fees...then I might agree with you. Otherwise, the "battle" would be finding a bank or a few banks that would put up with this kind of volume for more than a couple months.

The reason most of us don't hunt more boxes isn't because we don't have the 'bank roll'. We enjoy the hobby of finding silver, error, and variety coins. We don't want to burn the bridges that support our hobby. I would be depressed if I couldn't roll search.

My guess is this isn't much of a hobby for you.
