Lovely coin. My vote is for MS-65 RD. I would have said MS-66 RD if it wasn't for a few small spots.

MS64RD

Spotting on the obverse and contact marks on reverse. No more than a 65RD

Nice looking coin. How did you come by it? I love to read the stories on here.

Eye appeal and a beautiful pinwheel luster could bump it up a grade.

Hi,

A week ago I went to a yard sale and planted a seed that I was buying coins and gold/silver jewelry. I left my card with the wife.

A couple days later she calls me and says her husband has a gold ring to sell.

The appointment was today and their ring was 18 grams of 14k yellow gold. After buying the ring I asked if they had any coins to sell during the same visit.

After about three hours of evaluating jewelry and coins he presented a full roll of these MS+ 1957D Lincoln cents.

After I inspected just the two end pennies of this roll that were scratched (MD-60s) I asked him what he wanted for the entire roll if I buy the roll sight unseen.

He asked for $ 2.00 and I accepted this buying price for the entire roll of 50 MS+ 1957D cents.

Without knowing what was inside of this roll I reasoned that this price was competitive even if these coins were culls.

That's the whole story.
