Does anyone have a picture of the 1937 dot matte variety that is listed in the Charlton catalogue?

The dot matte is quite different from the regular '37, not so shiny!

I also agree with EF-40 for this one. Why do 1937 nickels have a dot on them though? I have never heard of 1937's being minted into 1938 like some other dot coins from other years were. Was the dot there for another reason?

The 1937 had a dot because the guys running the Mint in those days liked messing with us.
