Gothic Florin. I've been looking for one ever since I saw Trout's (I think it was).

Appleangel, that is my thought too. But since this a whole new world to me I leave it with the jury of CCF for a second opinion. Price seems high too.

Has heaps of detail. May have been dipped. The surface looks pretty lifeless

Gothic florins saw heavy circulation especially so, because the half crown was discontinued during the period of issue of the Gothic Florin.
The upshot of this is that Gothic Florins can be pricey in top condition.

Although this does have a Gothic portrait of Victoria, this is not strictly a Gothic florin, it is as the seller correctly describes it, the Godless florin. It was godless because it omitted Dei Gratia ("by the grace of God"), was only dated 1849 & was only 28mm in diameter. The true Gothic florin had a diameter of 30 mm and all the lettering on the coin was in Gothic script & the date was rendered in Roman numerals & they were minted from 1851 to 1887.
