Hey, I was looking for gold(appearence maybe not actual gold) presidential coin. I accidentally lost a the two I had which were my aunts. I know there are plenty in circulation because we looked them up on ebay once. I could have sworn it was a 1997 Presidential dollar coin. BUt, I look online and can find nothing. I was wondering if there was a list I could look at to possibly find it. I'm pretty sure it was one of the earlier presidents. If someone could please point me in the right direction I woujld be very great

The only gold colored president dollars are the small sized ones that they started making in 2007. On the other hand there are thousands of different privately made medals that have presidents on them. I'm sure someone made some dated 1997.

No dollar coins were minted that year in the United States.

It is possible that you had a 1997 Canadian Loon dollar. They are golden in color.

Strange. I could've sworn it was dated 1997. They were common currency. She bought a role of them from the store. I wonder if I could have been off on the date so much. Was wondering if there were any dollars besides the sackagewa and the presidential?

Well, of course there were.

Susan B. Anthony dollars were common at the time in post offices and certain vending machines, but they were silver in color. None were minted in 1997 - plenty were made in 1979, 1980, and 1981 to last us 100 years. Those were the only three years they were made for circulation until someone had a hair to mint more (for no reason other than to stick with a new law) in 1999.

But 1997 - there were no dollar coins minted. Simply put.

Maybe you are remembering seeing the dates of Washingtons presidency on the front of the coin. Undedrneath his portrait are the dates 1789-1797. Maybe you are remembering that 1797 and thinking it was 1997.... Just a guess. The year it was minted (2007) is on the edge of the coin, not the front or back.
