Not sure why my father has two 1955s in his book, maybe high grade.

Not sure about the top one, but the bottom is a "bugs bunny", and is a somewhat desirable variety. And was quite popular at one time. That may be why he had two.

I have tried to see the 'bugs' and I am just not seeing it. Can someone explain it to a newb like me?

Thank you!

Its a die variety with protrusion from the top lip. If you look at the mouth of the two photos you will see it.

Looks like a slight set of rabbit's teeth.

I see, I does look rather funny. What would the two coins grade, and is Bugs Bunny worth anything.

To grade it accurately we need to see the reverse. Especially to determine if it has "full bell lines"; which bring a premium.

In general the 55 is a better date, and any Bugs Bunny is a desirable coin. Having said that; right now is not the time to see Franklins. With so many coins coming out to be melted there is a glut of really nice Franklins on the market.

In my market for an average (ms 63) 1955, Bugs Bunny Franklin; I usually pay about 20$. Most BU Franklins around here go for about 12$ to 16$. Not counting the better dates; 48 s/d, 49 s/d, ect.

If I remember correctly, weren't the two other areas the die clashes were found on the 55s and 53s? I remember seeing die clashed just below his nose and below his chin. I can't remember who presented them but I'm still looking for those two. I found two great BB coins (below his upper lip) at the Richmond Coin Show one year.

Here's a couple photos that help you understand what you are looking at on the "Bugs" half.

It is great he had one normal and one bugs bunny.

Are you going to complete the rest of the set then?

Without seeing the reverse, they look to be around AU.

Cool, thanks for elaborating on the bugs variation. Though they look more like vampire teeth (in bad need of orthodontia hardware) to me!
