Personally I dont like the idea. Either its just a 1 product or year thing or they will continue the series and not have the first part of it. Either way the series will never be completed without a rerelease of the old quarters. Would have rather seen a new unique quarter design if they felt it must be done

I'll be getting a roll, I would imagine they will release some type of West point mint business strike coinage eventually as well

I'm gonna get a roll to break up. I only need one. I'll spend the ones that have the most marks and save a few nice ones to trade with forum members who don't want a whole roll.

The "s" coins are going to foul up my system of handling the ATB coins. This really goes beyond fouling up the Dansco album but my personal handling system. So now thanks to what CaptainFwiffo has pointed out I'll need to get three rolls. Two for stashing (like the rest of the series) and one just to break up so that I have an "S" circulating coin. I don't know what I'll do with the rest of the 39 coins in the broken roll, but I'll definitely not be putting those back into circulation. Since I'm really not into graded coins I'll have to do something. I don't think that there will be a market for them for a few years (if ever). So who knows................

Probably cheaper to let others buy a roll then buy one of their extras. This appears to be another money grab by the U.S. Mint.

Originally they were only going to mint 1.4 million of each type. Now they have decided to mint these to order much the same way they are doing with the SF ASE set. Depending on how sales go, these could either be a scarce issue or you'll end up spending them to get your money back.

if everybody buys rolls of them and saves them, and the mint makes 7-10 million of them... how will they ever be worth anything over face value? low mintage/ low value paradox, folks.
buy a couple to collect, but hoarding them is really not an investment strategy.

Most BU State Quarters in the many millions are selling above face value, so why not one with a mintage of just 10-20 million? The problem is that the Mint is selling them at almost double face value, so it might be tough to make any profit on them, from that value, but they will always be worth more than face value. I could never see a dealer selling them at face value, so they will, maybe be worth 50 cents per coin, if BU. I see the state and ATB Quarters selling for 60 cents each now, from dealers. I really hate the idea on how they are doing it. If they aren't for circulation, then it is going to be another NIFC coin they are making and that makes no sense. They are just looking at ways to make more money from the collector.

We have come a long way since the 60s when the Mint blamed Collectors for coin shortages; and did all sorts of things to "punish" us. Such as eliminating mint marks.

What is the general feeling about these? Good Idea /Bad Idea ? I'm just undecided really. It's such an extortion job with the price ! .... .... DOUBLE FACE AND PLUS SHIPPING COST ! One has to pay DEARLY for these ! ........ SHEEEESH ! .... I kind of doubt that they'll ever see much more than "cost" at best. So if anybody wants them for "profit-playing".... other than the initial "bubble" on ebay.... it's probably gonna be a losing situation, medium/long term. And this will be the first of MANY ATB's with S mints, FOR YEARS TO COME, you know. So the whole thing will be "watered down" soon with the "S" mint craze/excitement. I dunno......maybe this first year of S mints would be neat to have.....but I wouldn't get em' looking to make much money. ebay fanatics will prolly do okay initially though as I said, OF COURSE, as per usual right ? ...... Doubt I'll make up my mind until a few days after they've gone on sale.

it's really a detriment to the hobby because the mint is the hobby's largest coin dealer and it sells garbage- which means the collector has less money to spend on valuable or important pieces from the past.
