It's identical to to the Good/VG coin. I know he paid a pretty penny for it.

I think the MM is off as well based on photos I have researched. I would love to see it under stronger magnification. Can you use the photo-optimizer on the forum and get some good tight closeups of the "1's" on the obverse and the MM on the reverse?

Appears genuine to me. This is one of those coins that should never be purchased raw...I suspect your dad bought it before TPG's. I would send this to ANACS for sure. G6

Closeups of the date and the mintmark would be helpful. The mintmark doesn't look exactly right but there might just be nothing wrong with. If genuine, I would put it at about VG-8. Certification is a must.

I know all the coins are fake. I'm sure my dad would have paid 3 grand at a large coin show in Dallas TX where professional graders were on hand just to get a fake.

If a key date such as this shows up at a big coin show full of profressional graders, and sold by a serious dealer, why isn't it slabbed?
You shouldn't mock people who are just questioning the authenticity of the coin. That's not how to make friends;)

I know it's real and I guess that's all that matters. I have a couple hundred slabs that were bought that way, and most of them found their way to books. I actually avoid slabs because their grossly overpriced.

The grading companies are a sham to some extent, I agree. But when it comes to true rarities, I would rather have the foremost experts in the industry authenticating it. If this was not in a slab and you are getting all of the points being made about the Date/MM potentially not adhering to the only dies ever to exist on this coin, you may want to send it for authentication.

Avoiding slabs when dealing with a 4 figure coin is just begging to get burned by a counterfeit. If you just want to throw a hissy fit and delete all of your images when someone tells you something you do not want to hear, then you are not likely to get much more help from the knowledgeable members here

This forum is about education and sharing. Try to take the road of humbleness or maybe find another forum.

I see, I was getting really confused! I saw all those I respect giving grades and I did not see an image. I was beginning to think CajunLady had SteveX play an elaborate hoax on me!
