Sorry, No pic as I am at work. Stopped by my local pawn shop,(they never have anything interesting....until today!), and they had a 1992 "S" ASE Proof, with the Purple velvet box but no paperwork or outer box. I got it for $60......... so did I do good? I have a few ASE's but the only other proof I have I got frome here, payed $55 for a 2010. So I thought the $60 for a 1992 could not be too much of a rip-off...... I'm I wrong? |

If your two proofs are in good shape, then you really scored! Red Book has the 1992-S Proof at $70 and the 2010-W Proof also at $70. |

That's a decent price, I think..... retail is $70+. But you could have got a little better deal since this doesn't come w/ COA and outer box.

Sixty to sixty five is ebay prices minus COA or box generally on proof eagles.... Nice score good deal anyhow you look at it IMO.... |

Thanks Silverhawk for making me feel better. The coin itself and the velvet box are very nice and I like it, so I guess that is what matters most. I have seen the outer box and COA on ebay, but I do not think they could be had for less than $10 after shipping. Anybody out there in the CCF that can help me? Is the COA dated for 1992 or did they use them for several years? Would you say this is a good coin to send off to be graded? (I've never done that, but read here on the CCF that grading is a waste of time/money as there are few coins that go up in value from grading). |

I think you did just fine. I would not bother with getting it graded. It would have to grade PR-70 DCAM to be worth it.

If your view of the purchase is to add to your collection then you don't need the COA & box and you did good on the price. Most of the time, you don't need those for your own collection; unless you want to have a completion of all Mint issued items.... which lead to your next goal of getting a complete run of the series. If your view is to resell it then NO, you need to pay 15% below ebay price just to make even. Regardless of your view, do NOT send the coin to be graded unless you are very sure that it will come back PR-70 DCAM (like D0ubl3Eagle said), otherwise you are loosing money (it cost about $20 in total to get the coin grade). |
