What Does Doubled Die Obverse / DDO Mean?

ghostrider Pillar of the Community United States 1116 Posts	Posted 06/13/2012 9:51 pm I was looking to purchase a coin on another site and the seller made reference to the coin as being DDO. What does DDO mean and what would I be looking for if I do purchase the coin. I am assuming that this means that the coin has a particular attribute but what? Also the seller is offering two alike coins for identical money, one is graded au, and the other is au + DDO. Barring pictures which coin would you be more inclinded to purchase (sight unseen). Each coin is raw. As of right now I'm leaning towards the DDO but want to know what means. I do like buying a pig in a poke as a lot times I have found a coin that I truly do like for the money involved. Report this Post to the Staff

The way I read it is: One coin is a DDO and the other isn't so if you are interested in the variety get the DDO if you have no interest in varieties get the non DDO. Bryan1315 Bedrock of the Community United States 14454 Posts	Posted 06/14/2012 2:11 pm if one is AU+ and the other is just AU and they are the same price and date then I would certainly get the AU+ even without the variety as I always try to get the best coin I can afford and since they are both the same price the better coin would my pick Report this Post to the Staff
