So as a lot of you know, I'm a silver bug. With my budget usually tight I have been dime roll searching and buying a lot of Canadian dimes and quarters pre 68. My interest in silver has purely been long term investment. Now after seeing so many dates come into my hands, I am almost to the point of wanting to start filling a dime and quarter albums. I'm a bit afraid to though. You see, I do sell on occasion, near the top to buy an upcoming dip. If I tie up the coins then I might not sell and miss a dip which would suck since I stack and for me quantity is king to me but cant help think how cool it would be to complete the album considering you can still find every Canadian coin ever made. But with stacking its about my total investment costs and I know that there are going to be many coins that are going to cost me a few bucks to fill a hole or upgrade I dunno, I'm so on the fence. Anyone else go through this dilemma? Thoughts, words of wisdom? Cheers all!

Take a coin. Flip it. Let Heads be go with it, and tails be continuing investing. If you get heads, go with it. If you get tails, flip it again until it lands on heads. Long story short, do the albums. :)

Yea, do the albums. You'll appreciate the coins you save

Nothing wrong with doing both, stashing bullion and building a coin collection. Bullion is for survival/insurance, collecting is for fun.

doesn't take many coins to fill an album/flip.

I know what you mean about being in a dilemma. Last year I finished a Franklin half dollar album that took me 2 years. When silver was around $42.00 an ounce, I sold them. Looking back, I know I made the right decision. Now that silver is far less, I can always rebuild it. If silver goes much higher, I would probably sell it again then rebuild it when the price drops.

Ya this is what I'm thinking. Maybe I may just start the dime album. Cheaper and less investment up, and still have a bit of fun doing one. After that, maybe consider the quarters. :-)

You do know that the coins will come out of the album? Just think of the album as a well presented and labeled stack of silver. Sell if you have to and begin refilling at a lower price.

I personally think once you try to start filling all of the holes, you will find the enjoyment of the hunt very satisfying and will be glad you decided to collect. The thing is, it can't hurt to try since the only investment you might make would be an album. And at that, see if you can go to a dealer/show and get a used one for 5.00. This way you will not be losing much more than a couple double doubles/triple triples at Tims if you decide collecting is not for you!
Come to think of it, you could probably find a buy for the used album anyway.
