I shipped an item using the the make your own label thing through paypal.

I checked the status of the package and it says "expected Delivery By: June 12, 2012 "

the last update it has says "Depart USPS Sort Facility June 11, 2012"

Do you think it is just lagging and may arrive a few days late?

of about 250 packages I have received or sent through USPS, 1 was lost. A few were mis-routed, but still arrived a day or 2 later than planned.

Thanks Scott! Yeah I haven't mailed that many packages so I guess I'm not due to have one lost yet. I'll see if it arrives this next week. Just wanted to make sure I shouldn't worry yet.

What type of service was it and how far did it have to go? I wouldnt be to worried yet but you can always go to the local post office and have them check their system for it. I know they did slow their shipping times not to long ago and the system may still reflect the old times or just have it at a really slow post office for some reason. If its not there by monday definitely go check it

First class cross country has gotten really slow I've noticed. If it didnt leave either coast till the 11th Id expect it Monday or Tuesday. Its supposed to be 5 day mail but with the day it takes to process at each end its more like 7 or 8 post office days now is what I've noticed

another point: it also depends on how close either end of the trip is to a main sorting office. I have sent items to California that got to the sorting office on-time, but the final destination required an extra transfer to another post office.

FYI - my mail goes from my PO to the main sorting office in Atlanta, but mail from my Mother's house (a few towns north) goes from her PO, to a regional office, then to Atlanta.

A couple years ago, I had shipped a $100 coin with DC and it was stuck at a sorting facility in Idaho for a week which made me all kinds of nervous. The buyer eventually received it and told me that his area was dealing with a blizzard that suspended his rural mail delivery for several days. I guess the Post Office manages to do ok in rain and sleet but give them a blizzard with 3ft of snow and they have problems

I have seen it lagging in some areas of the country and in others with current status. I think that the key word is "expected". For the most part the package is early, late or on-time. I have only had one incident where the package did not arrive to me.

Example (most recent status on top);

Sorting Complete

Jun-15-12, 07:53 AM, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73119

Arrival at Post Office

Jun-15-12, 05:48 AM, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73119

Processed through USPS Sort Facility

Jun-15-12, 00:31 AM, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73107

* Depart USPS Sort Facility

Jun-15-12, 00:00 AM, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73107

* Depart USPS Sort Facility

Jun-13-12, 00:00 AM, LOS ANGELES, CA 90052

Processed at USPS Origin Sort Facility

Jun-12-12, 20:42 PM, LOS ANGELES, CA 90052

Dispatched to Sort Facility

Jun-12-12, 16:29 PM, SANTA MONICA, CA 90403

Acceptance

Jun-12-12, 12:58 PM, SANTA MONICA, CA 90403
* There is a two day window of "non-reporting" between Los Angeles and Okla City.

I'm not sure what's up with the USPS this week but I had a 1st class package mailed to me. The tracking link showed it was in the sorting facility in MO on the 11th and just showed this A.M. that it arrived here in East Texas and is out for delivery. Never took this long in the past.

the status wasn't updated in a few days and thats what caught my eye. The estimated shipping date is always exact for me so far. Anyways, it was just updated today so I'm sure it will be there tomorrow or monday. Thanks again folks!

Happy to hear it should work out. Trying to find a lost package from the post office is one of the biggest wastes of time I've ever had

Its really not even worth it unless your trying to get them to pay for something expensive and that takes months
