Hot diggity dog! Today is my lucky day. I just got an 1881 Indian Head penny in change. It's pretty well circulated but the 1881 date is clearly legible.

I guess I need a special camera or camera adapter? I tried taking pics and all I can get are a series of dark, blurry circles.

That is great! You can take a decent picture with most cameras. Maybe some light shining on it would make the picture clearer.

What a find. Thats hard to believe, that a penny stayed in circulation for over 130 years. I remember when I was a young boy in the early 50's my mother showed me an IHC that she got in her change. She said that it was real unusual to find one, and she was right. I have never seen one in circulation since.

I've found that scanning is the easiest. You can also try turning your camera to the flower symbol and shoot in daylight.

Nice find! I've only ever found one IHC in change...a 1900, beautiful condition. I highly doubt it was in circulation for the entire 112 years of it's long life, though. Regardless, amazing to see. :D
