So I'm looking for a 1913-S TY1 Buffalo in the neighborhood of MS63. I noticed that many of them are poorly struck? The date often looks dull as do the words Liberty and and United States of America (reverse).

Would appreciate your opinions on this issue. Also, how much over Gray Sheet "Ask" do you think is appropriate to pay for this coin?

Thanks all,

Jeff

I possibly did something wrong. This coin is a bit, just a little, less than MS-65.

I had to edit my post because I had responded that I had one that was cracked out of a MS-64 slab and put into my Dansco7070 album that will be going up on ebay as soon as Susan gets it listed but after I had already put all the information and also edited some pictures and uploaded them I re-read it and noticed you are looking for a 1913-S and mine is just a 1913-P Type 1

Wow Bryan1315! I have to say I'm pretty blown away by your Dansco! I think I drooled on my keyboard a little! How long has it taken you to build that set? Question...what are your thoughts about proofs? I notice you have a few in there. My personal opinion (for what it's worth) is that proofs are an entirely different animal. They do look good in you album though.

@Fuzzy and anyone who can help...

There are a couple nice ones in the group you've shown me, Fuzzy. Now my lack of experience will show. If the graysheet Ask price for MS63 is $130, and I like the MS62 from coast coin, what do you think a fair price would be? Coast coin is asking $169 for the MS62.

Is there an accepted markup over graysheet ask or any method of determining a fair price? Of course dealers need to make a living but I'd hate to over pay!

You could try contacting them and see if they'll take a little less for the coin. They have a toll-free number and an email address listed on their site. The worst that will happen is they will tell you no.

You never know, maybe it's been in their inventory for a while.

Actually about 98% of the coins in there was assembled in about a years time. I didn't add anything to it in the past 3 or 4 years. I am actually selling all the coins in the album one at a time through Susan and Bobby's consignment service on ebay because I am going through a divorce and I have 90 days to come up with a pretty large amount of money to pay my ex off so I can keep my house and everything else I have had since way before we got married

The reason I have Proofs in there is because they were Modern coins and I already had the coins before I had the album so I just cut them out and placed them in there as Modern coins really don't matter to me. I was in the process of swapping all the Proof Commems for classic commems but never really got around to finishing that up
