Are these anything worth saving? I'm not sure how to tell if a star note is valuable unless it is very obvious such as having a low serial like 00000005. How low does a serial have to be to command a premium?

Check here for a low print run that makes it collectable. Also condition is everything http://mycurrencycollection.com/ref...s/lookup.php

Thank you! That site is going to be very helpful! I see it says that star notes are generally considered rare if approx 640k or less were printed, but how early does a serial have to be for it to be considered rare? Star note or regular note? Also do the letters make a difference? For example would an AB00000213A be a later serial than an AA54875441A ? or would the AB00000213A be more collectible?

Most collectors look for SN's to start with at least four zeros. Rarity has many factors such as condition, print run, district and signatures. Also any "fancy" numbers.

When searching for your star notes really pay attention to condition. Only keep the ones in au condition. Also look for unusual serial numbers. Even high numbers that are unique are fun to have.
