buddy of mine came back from India and game me some stuff should I keep it or not?

Without specifically identifying them and depending on condition, I'd say the coins are all worth cents rather than dollars. But just think of the fun you can have identifying them by the mint marks (usually found under the date). India (among modern countries) probably has more mint marks on the coins than anywhere else.

If your friend has gone to the trouble to bring these coins and notes back from India for you, the least you could do is keep one of each.

I'd say it depends more on how tight you and your buddy are, rather on whether or not you're interested in the stuff.
