I have this coin that was given to me as a gift supposedly valuable - about 2cm in diameter and 4.9 grams made of gold

I don't really know much about it but it is not a coin, more of a token or medallion. I also doubt that it is gold since the color is a closer match to a nickel alloy or silver.

Edit: it appears to be a souvenir from Castle Burghausen which is located in the Bavaria region of Germany.

Right, that is not a coin but a medal. The "986" on the side with the castle view indicates a precious metal content. I agree, looks like silver rather than gold, but that could be the photo. Burghausen is at the "SE end" of the German state of Bavaria, on the Austrian border. Had a brief look at the city history, but as the piece is not dated, it is hard to guess when the medal was made and whether it commemorates a specific event ...
