The more individual items you buy the more you'll be paying in premiums.
Most sites charge 2.95% credit card processing fees.
I know goldmart has free shipping on orders over 5k. They also have a nice variety of different silvers...
Scottsdale silver has some nice stackers.
I would try and buy from 1 place, you'll spend less on shipping.

Buy low...sell high.
Don't purchase ANY risk investment unless you can pay cash.
I would buy local...avoid the shipping, insurance, and other fees. ...AND...you will start to develop a relationship with the seller.
Personally, I would ONLY pay cash. ....and sell for CASH on when it is time to sell as well.

I would avoid any online PM dealer that takes longer than 10 business days to process cash payments OR doesn't agree to ship your purchase within 3 days after funds clear.
I personally would avoid any dealer taking up to TWO MONTHS or longer to make delivery.
Every good online dealer I've used posts a detailed FAQ on their web site explaining in plain English their payment terms, shipping policies, and their buy/sell spread. Read it!
My first purchase from a new online dealer is 1) always small and 2) always a product I know VERY well. Check quality. Are the PMs deliver in the condition promised? How about shipping? Did the package arrive on time? Was the packaging adequate for the items shipped to arrive safely? Believe me, any dealer who cuts corners on a small purchase isn't worth trusting with a $5000.00 purchase!

Nice to know. Maybe I'll see if the LCS could order for me.

Not a bad option! Just make sure you have a firm price in advance. Be careful with the lingo, though. There is a big difference between these two statements: "I can get you ASE's for only $1.50 over spot!" and... "I can get you ASE's at only $1.50 over my cost!" Avoid misunderstandings by keeping everything clear! Good luck!

Make sure you can't get the same thing a dealer is selling on ebay auctions for a much better price. ebay has a search feature that allows you to find out how much a particular item sold for over a specific period. Some simple research can sometimes save you a considerable amount.

I would check locally as well. I find the best price from a local shop that will sell any amt for a single silver dime to a large quantity. No shipping fees etc. check around. Aside from the US Mint the only place I have purchased

I second Angel's comment about buying locally if you can. Because of the relationship I have built with a local pawn shop, I can buy some very nice 90% silver coins as well as the occasional silver Maple or ASE at spot. Most of the other shops around here charge spot plus about 4-8%, so this is a pretty good deal. Only problem is that his inventory is small and often depleted. If he has any coins, though, they are usually very well priced. As to buying on-line, yeah, that's another good option. I have bought from APMEX, Provident Metals, and SilverTowne and have had good results with all three of them. I have not bought from GoldMart and probably won't due to their buyer agreement terms, which seem Draconian to me. But, maybe that's just me. They do have low prices on most items but that tends to drop as the amount you purchase increases and the volume discounts that other vendors offer narrow the price difference.

Buying online is pretty much the only option around here.

Quote: Welcome back Ed. I wondered where you have been!! Thanks, Angel. Yeah, I had a bunch of things suck up all of my time, so haven't been as active on the web as usual. Am hoping that tomorrow is my last day of jury duty for a while. That is very worthwhile but also very time consuming as the wheels of justice turn slowly. Even when I did not have time to respond, I was still reading some of the messages - good stuff, as usual!
