I would assume that if it is a feederfinger damage, the feederfinger would have had to come into direct contact with the coin die itself as the raised lines can only come from a damaged coin die... If I'm wrong, please say why, as all the years I've collected errors, I'm still learning something new every now & then...

Great pictures and thanks for posting. I did not know there was such an error.
Now, something else to check when I am searching coins.

Quote: as the raised lines can only come from a damaged coin die Broken Coin, that is true for the most part....but Lincoln cents can have raised lines from linear plating blisters, so, there is an exception to be aware of.

I am somewhat reluctant to ascribe these die gouges to Feeder Finger Damage. You'll notice that they don't all travel in the same direction. I think a more prudent diagnosis would be die gouges or die scrapes of uncertain origin.

could that been maybe a faulty blanchet?.Since the lines are not on the design itself.I do have a penny with a great deal of Feeder Finger Damage and Mikediamond is right. All the lines run in one direction.I really dont think its PMD .But I'm still new to all this and can be wrong :)

Quote: Mikediamond is right. All the lines run in one direction That is the opposite of what he just said And he is not saying PMD....die gouges are still part of the minting process. But thanks for the correction Mike...I see there are a couple of curves there too now that you mention it.
